Positive aspects of the product (pros): unique, great pictures, captivating even for young children
Negative aspects of the product (cons): none

Sometimes, a mother will have one child, then become pregant with another. In this situation, the mother may decide to place the second child for adoption. Sam's Sister is the only book that tells the story of a child who is "giving up" a baby brother, while she remains with her mother. My infant son stopped trying to put the pages in his mouth after one page, and I was able to read most of the substantial book to him as he stared at the pictures. I also found the story to be true-to-life, engaging, and poignant. I highly recommend this book to any birth families with children in the home, and to adoptive families in which a child has older birth siblings. I also recommend Sam's Sister to anyone in an open adoption

Child #1: Is that your mother?
Child #2: Yes.
Child #1: Why is she white and you are black?
Child #2: Because I am adopted, and black people have more melanin than white people do.
Child #1: Oh, let's go on the high bars.
