While it's not a major adoption film, there is a little adoption related stuff in the movie with his not knowing his biological parents and then setting off to find them and to connect with his biological dad.
It's mostly just a cute, funny Christmas movie though that I really enjoy and I also really like Will Ferrell.

I really enjoyed this film. I love Will Ferrell and Zoey Deschanel so it was a lot of fun for me.
The adoption theme is interesting- he doesn't fit in with his afamily (they are elves) and yet he loves his afamily and land more than anything- it has informed who he is- he tries to be the best elf he can be and yet he falls short constantly. His afather loves him very much and tries to provide the best he knows how. His afather supports his search to find his bfather- that is very good!
He finds his father and he doesn't quite fit there either. Just like all of us adoptees. A very sweet and fun Christmas movie- I think young adoptees would really enjoy it. Good to talk to your adopted children after watching the film....

Unfriendly/Language

As an adoptive mother, I thought the way this movie treats adoption was insulting. Plus the language was too "salty" for the intended audience.
